★★★★★“Blown away by this unassuming but fantastic restaurant tucked away in bruntsfield. Small plates were outstanding - cured trout, huge scallops with a lovely spicy sauce, fresh oysters, smoked cod pate, warm goats cheese salad, and we shared a main of the tagliatelle with octopus ragu (between 3 of us). Wine was great, and so were the cocktails. Service was excellent, and plenty of tables on a Friday night (surprisingly!) would definitely come back.”
★★★★★“An absolutely gorgeous meal, Jamie was friendly and attentive and gave recommendations on drinks, the cocktails are exquisite. Some amazing flavours in all the dishes and everything cooked perfectly, highly recommend ⭐”
★★★★★“The flavours were certainly present, but the pricing felt unjustifiably high for this level of dining. It came across as charging Michelin-star rates without offering anything close to a Michelin-level experience. The sharing plates were strikingly small and, in my view, overpriced £15 for a single scallop and another £15 for half a langoustine is difficult to justify. The Salt cod mousse, herb oil, grilled sourdough it was only one slice of bread cut in half, I will recommend to add on more slice because the mousse was more than the bread anyway. The standout dish was the miso-cured sea trout with celeriac, apple, and buckwheat, which showed real balance and technique. After that, however, the value proposition declined sharply. Charging £65 for a hake tail accompanied by only a few spoonfuls of lentils and spinach might be acceptable if execution were flawless, yet finding bones in the fish especially with an added 10% service charge was disappointing. To make matters worse, a wine I know retails for around €12 in Sicily was listed at £58, which reinforced the sense that the pricing strategy was far more ambitious than the overall experience warranted. The overall cost for 2 people was £196.”
