“The solway Firth: ‘En Plein Air’ Art Retreat 15th - 21st June 2025 Artists Lewis Mackenzie and Ewan McClure teaching the week long plain air painting course are both inspirational, very respectful and great teachers in their own unique ways. It was a delight to stay with the host family at their private home. The boarding was exquisite, the estate charming, the yellow room i stayed in very comfortable. The dinner parties are an experience not to be missed. It’s a full on schedule with so much to learn and implement. Highly recomended for oil paiting inthusiasts. Retreat organization suggestion: On regular evenings with no events/formal dinner parties perhaps consider early buffet style dinner similar to lunch at around 6-7 p.m. 7:30 onwards snacks and drinks in the library for whoever is up and still feeling peckish. This would give attendees time to rest and digest everything including the lessons of the day and more time to explore the grounds and go for relaxing evening walks before bed.”

“The Edinburgh Drawing School is a real gem in the centre of Edinburgh! It is very cosy place, managed by lovely and friendly Fiona and Beth, and has many amazing teachers. It is not just a recreation place, but the real drawing school where you can learn. Just in 1.5 years my daughter developed her talent and drawing skills to the quite high level. Do not get me wrong, she has a huge passion for Arts ​and​ she spends all her free time drawing ​Manga​ (comics)​, portraits and etc. Thus if you want to learn and eager to practice, this is ​the best ​place for you.”
