What customers say

My family stopped her a couple of months back. The restaurant is situated at the back of the pub. The place is very unassuming as you could mistake it from a house. It also does feel your in someone’s home as well. The service was pretty good. Although, we felt that the service was a little slow. In their defence it was a busy so we didn’t mind waiting. We also hoped that with a longer wait would mean that the food would be fresher. I liked the menu as it had your pub classics but also few unique options. I ended up going with one of those unusual pub dishes and got the Chef’s Deconstructed Peking Duck which was very nice. The duck was well cooked and the flavour of the hoisin and ginger was lovely. The portion size was fair, but £17.50? Maybe on the pricey side. My wife went with the fish and chips. The fish had a crispy batter and the haddock tasted nice. The chips were fine and it came with mushy peas and tartare sauce. We shared garlic bread which was cooked well but were just as good as shop bought. For dessert I had the chocolate and salted caramel pudding which definitely hit my sweet craving. It was delicious and absolutely drowned in sauce. Overall we had an enjoyable meal and I would Be happy to come back. I’d say it’s definitely up there for best pub restaurant in Midlothian.

Well well what a gem Bruntons aka Stobsmill Inn is. As it was our 57th wedding anniversary we decided to book a table for our anniversary. The top bar is great not to big and not to small plenty locals in for a drink noticed Brian Gardener holding court so didn't disturb him....😎😀😎😀. I had a fantastic pint of Belhaven Best🍺🍺 and a gin & tonic 🍸🍸 for the wife. We were shown down to Bruntons restaurant nice and cool and a great cosy space. We ordered our mains I had the deconstructed Pecking Duck with a twist and the wife had the Salmon both dishes were well presented hot and absolutely delicious 😋 😋. We ordered the Eton Mess 🍧🍧 dessert 🍨 and it came with a lovely 🍓 puree message Happy Anniversary 😊 what a fantastic and unforgettable touch. Great value and price point. So thanks to our waitress who was amazingly, welcoming, friendly, polite and attentive sorry I didn't get your name. And a big shout out to the chef 👨‍🍳 and kitchen staff for an amazing meal. We will be back. And if you're reading this review go and give Bruntons your support. ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟
