★★★★★“Absolutely love this cafe! It’s a true local gem and easily one of my favorite spots for coffee and brunch in the city. I ordered the sourdough with halloumi and poached eggs, and it was honestly amazing—perfectly cooked eggs, flavorful halloumi, and fresh toasted sourdough. You can really tell they care about the quality of their food and presentation. The coffee was excellent—rich, balanced, and easily one of the best I’ve tried in the UK. The place itself has a lovely, cozy interior with tasteful decor that makes you feel warm and welcome. It’s quiet and relaxed, with lovely jazz background music, making it a great place to enjoy your food, chat with friends, or read a book. The vibe is calm and friendly, capturing that true 'neighborhood cafe' essence. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive; they even gave me tips for my travels around Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland! Prices are very reasonable and affordable compared to other spots in the city, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. There was also a wide variety of pastries and cakes at the counter, so there are plenty of options for everyone. If you are looking for a cozy local cafe in Edinburgh with great coffee, delicious food, and good vibes, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended—I will definitely be back on my next trip to Scotland!”
★★★★★“I absolutely LOVE Kiva!! Wonderful atmosphere and great coffee and selection of pastries and cooked meals. Such a calming, cozy environment perfect for reading, coffee dates, and going out for breakfast & lunch- the tuna melt is my favourite. Also, the music is perfect and not too loud or distracting which I don’t find in many cafes!! In the spring/summer the patio options are also a lovely place to sit in the sun!! 10/10”
★★★★★“My order was forgotten to begin with. Mistakes happen, that’s fine, but there was no apology, just my meal arriving 10 or so minutes after my partners. My partner ordered dry eggs Benedict on barely toasted sourdough bread (don’t expect ham with your eggs, bacon is £2 extra). The American breakfast (pictured) was genuinely awful. This is all I ate (last pic with napkin). The pancake was like cardboard. The eggs dry and tasteless, the bacon so salty it was inedible. The hash brown was ok. Cooked from frozen and obviously from a packet so it’s hard to get it wrong. Great atmosphere. Coffee was good. Maybe just come for the atmosphere and coffee. Think twice about eating. The longer I think on it the more I’m annoyed I paid full price, given how little I ate and how bad the food was.”
