What customers say

We had lunch at MalayaLane yesterday. When we walked in the restaurant all the tables are occupied, so we just sat at the bench near the door which is not ideal in cold weather as you can feel the cold wind sipping through the door as the door can’t close properly. They are having Saturday specials which is the Nasi Tomato sets. The lady boss was there to place our order and she let us know that the mutton set has sold out so we order the chicken set. Within minutes she passed our meal to us over the counter. It’s a chicken set but she said there is mutton curry in it I don’t know why. And there are 2 large mutton bones in the chicken set. How can you have mutton bones in a chicken set? I asked but she just did not answer my question and talked about mutton curry. It does not taste good at all. Chicken & mutton do not mix. There are 2-3 small pieces of mixed chicken (curry chicken & fried chicken), one small egg korma, a little bit of pickled vegetables and a handful of rice. For $20.90, I think it’s very expensive considering the portion she gave us. She asked if we want any drink, I thought of having a hot teh tarik but she told us only have iced teh tarik no hot teh tarik so I said that’s fine. But the customer next to us was served hot teh tarik to our surprised. Half way through our meal, she came with a hot teh tarik and asked us if we want this. I told her that just now she said there is no hot teh tarik and she said now we have because she make it. But we declined the teh tarik because I don’t know what this is all about. So conflicting. I think she does not treat all her customers the same. When making payment the boss himself attend to me. I saw the zii QR code at the cash register so I scanned it but MalayaLane is not register in the app so you will not earn points from any payment you made. I already informed the boss and he already taken note about it. Since there is credit card surcharge so I pay by cash. When I request for a receipt the boss said no receipt because I paid by cash. This is the most ridiculous answer I have heard. Overall very bad experience. Most importantly the food is amateur standard and the price is not reasonable. On top of that the bosses treat the customers double standard. I think this will be my first and last time.

If you’re like me and the Malaysian food cravings hit hard, Malaya Lane in Adelaide is the ultimate cure. I’ve been back twice now, and honestly, it’s worth every single cent. Finding a spot that actually nails the "back home" flavor profile is rare, but this place is doing it superbly. We didn't hold back on the order, and every dish was a 10/10: The Mains: The Nasi Lemak Pandan Ayam is a standout the rice is fragrant and the chicken is perfectly crisp. The Kway Teow Goreng and Mee Goreng both had that essential wok hei (breath of the wok) that you usually only find at a busy street stall in KL. The Classics: The Honey Chicken provided that perfect sticky-sweet balance, and the Karipap (Curry Puffs) were flaky, golden, and disappeared in seconds. Not to forget the Satay Chicken with the peanut sauce which was super delicious. The Breakfast Staple: Adding the Roti Bakar to the mix was the best decision perfectly toasted, crunchy, and exactly how it should be. It’s that simple, nostalgic comfort food done right. The Drinks: You can’t have a Malaysian feast without the classics. The Ice Teh Tarik was frothy and pulled to perfection, and the Ice Bandung was the ideal refreshing floral pink hit to wash it all down. Walking in here feels like a warm hug from home. It’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience that makes the distance feel a little smaller. Whether you’re a homesick Malaysian or just a fan of authentic bold flavors, this place is a must-visit. Main character energy, authentic flavors, and total satisfaction. Slay! 👑🔥

Third time at MalayaLane and honestly still bloody good every time.First time trying the Mee Goreng Maamak and far out… packed with flavour and proper wok kick. The Chicken Laksa was an absolute ripper for this cold weather hot, creamy and hit the spot perfectly. The satay was top notch and the Roti Canai Banjir was next level. That chicken curry smell seriously took us straight back home.My brother smashed the Butter Chicken Bowl and the kids demolished the curry puffs in minutes.Love that they always chuck in some new and interesting menu items whenever we come by. Friendly owners, great vibes and proper authentic Malaysian food.Keep it up legends 👏🔥
