★★★★★“I took my car to James Allan & Sons to have the clutch replaced in August, and it turned into a nightmare. Immediately after leaving the shop, my engine started cutting off at low RPMs, especially during low-speed turns and stops at traffic lights. This caused dangerous situations where my steering wheel locked, nearly leading to accidents with pedestrians, cars, and cyclists. I called them the same day to report the issue, and when I brought the car back, they blamed a faulty MAF sensor. I spent £130 on a brand new sensor, only for the problem to persist. They then tried to blame me for not buying an "original" BMW part, even though I used a reputable Continental brand. Frustrated, I took the car to another garage. They found that James Allan & Sons had forgotten to plug in a camshaft sensor during reassembly, which had been causing the engine to cut out for over a month! On top of that, they had reinstalled the windscreen wiper arms incorrectly, resulting in a permanent deep scratch on my windscreen. I have proof that this damage wasn’t there before (see attached photo of the day the car broke down, you can see we are pushing the car out of the road as it had just broken down), and I had to pay another £223 to fix the mess they left behind. I called the owner and of course he refused to take responsibility (the LEAST he could do after draining £1,000 from me for the clutch) despite being the only garage to have seen my car until I got it fully fixed today. To make matters worse, a large screwdriver that had been in my boot for months went missing after my visit. I contacted the owner, giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they never got back to me (see attached text conversation). If you care about your car and want it properly repaired, STAY AWAY from James Allan & Sons. You’ll likely end up paying a second garage to fix their mistakes, just like I did.”
