What customers say

The café is very nice and the food is good. The quality–price ratio is fair. It was a very busy day, so some confusion was understandable. However, my experience at the till with Sharon was disappointing. In my perception, the way we were treated felt different and uncomfortable, and it felt like there may have been an element of racism in her attitude. I truly hope this was not intentional, but no one should ever leave a place feeling unwelcome. I hope this feedback is taken constructively so that every customer can feel respected and valued.

A Day Out at Newhailes House and Grounds Newhailes House, part of the National Trust for Scotland, is a gem just outside Edinburgh and makes for a really enjoyable day out. The grounds are easy to walk, with wide paths that suit all ages and abilities, and you’re rewarded with beautiful views over the sea as you wander. It feels peaceful, open, and ideal for a gentle stroll with family. The house itself is fascinating and steeped in history. However, it’s worth noting that it isn’t very accessible for those who struggle with steps and stairs – something to keep in mind if mobility is an issue. Great cafe with seats indoor and out The service is warm and welcoming, and the food choice is excellent, from light meals to indulgent cakes. Everything is fresh and tasty, and the space is well looked after, with clean toilets and a comfortable atmosphere. Practical touches make visiting even easier. There is plenty of parking available, and it’s free for National Trust members. Families will also appreciate the play areas for children, which are a great way to keep little ones entertained while adults enjoy the surroundings. Altogether, Newhailes is a wonderful family-friendly destination. Whether you go for a historical visit, a scenic walk, or just a coffee and cake stop, it’s well worth adding to your list.

Lovely little cafe. Perfect for a lunch break or just for a hot drink after & before the playpark. I’ve attached the menu for prices and options.
