“I’ve waited some time before writing this review to ensure I approached it fairly. Last year I visited East Coast Garage regarding a wiring retrofit issue on my car. Initially, they resolved a blown fuse, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to have the main LIN mirror fault investigated, the vehicle spent the entire day in the workshop. At the end of the day, I was informed that the fault was the same LIN communication issue I had already identified prior to bringing the car in. I was then invoiced for diagnostic time. When I asked what would be involved in actually resolving the issue, I was told they did not know what the job would involve. Given that this was a wiring-related fault and the vehicle had been with them all day, this left me concerned. After unsuccessfully attempting a credit card chargeback, I decided to leave the matter and stopped pursuing the repair due to a lack of confidence. Recently, I visited a MINI specialist for a second opinion. The fault was identified within approximately 15 minutes as missing terminals in specific connector cavities inside the door. I was informed that most of the time spent was locating the correct wiring diagram. This specialist also told me they wouldnt charge for diagnostic time so long as they would carry out the work to resolve the issue, which is very encouraging. While I understand that diagnostics can vary between workshops, I was disappointed that this relatively straightforward issue was not identified previously, particularly given the diagnostic charge at East Coast Garage. Additionally, the tone of the emails I received following my credit card dispute felt unprofessional, rude and very discouraging. Perhaps I was simply unlucky, but based on my experience I felt it was important to share this for transparency.”
