“In 2009, two years after my father passed away, and the small family home in Newton Stewart was sold, I was looking to extend and future-proof my own house in Priestfield Road. Since I did not have a huge amount at my disposal. I reckoned I could afford a downstairs toilet and shower. By chance, I happened to talk to Michael about an extension. At first he was sceptical and I could understand since some projects never come to fruition, but I emailed him that day. He came back with the news I could afford more. An office could potentially be a bedroom with an ensuite if needed. I wanted a bigger kitchen with Dalbeattie granite worktops, since I love cooking. I stipulated a pitched roof to avoid future problems and Michael offered to manage the whole project. Work started in 2010 and took roughly 12-14 weeks. In the autumn I completed a few tweaks to the front of the house. Having a neighbour to oversee the work, was a chance in a million. My house is unique and designed for me.”
