★★★★★“My sister purchased her ladies Trek Mountain Bike around 1999 from a Trek dealer within a camping and caravan site located just a mile or so south of Aberfoyle and she used it then regularly for the next 25 years. After taking my electric bike out for a spin a few years ago she was smitten and given she is small she bought herself a little Cube electric number. The poor little gold coloured Trek 820 lay unloved in her shed until she kindly gifted the old bike to my daughter (35) and she in turn gave it to me for a bit of TLC. I gave the old bike a thorough clean and some new tyres but then my daughter asked if I could put the saddle down by around 1 inch and it was at this point I became unstuck. I tried everything but it would not budge. It then became clear that to get it out would require a serious bit of kit in the form of a seatpost puller most of which are hand made or fabricated. I found out that a chap in Stirling had such a machine then later discovered he had retired from the bike maintenance game. Undeterred I was thinking of taking it to a chap in Yorkshire who calls his machine "the beast" when my wife told me that a shop in Edinburgh on the Internet claimed they could remove stuck seatposts so after a call the shop the girl assured me they would get it so without further delay it was promptly taken from Paisley along the M8 to sunny Leith. I spoke to the girl and received a warm welcome and again I was assured it would be removed. I advised her that in all likelihood given nobody else had ever ridden my sister's old bike the seatpost had probably not moved in 26 years and that I reckoned there was at least around 26cm of aluminium post stuck in the steal frame. I advised Pedal Forth that should they get the post out they should celebrate and they were welcome to jazz up the bike in any way they thought necessary and to then give the bike a good service. I told them that despite the age of the old bike they were free to fit or replace any parts needed up to around £200. I left them to it and assured them there was no rush for the bike. In the back of my mind I heard my adult son telling me I should scrap it and take it to the dump in Underwood Road in Paisley. I left the bike a little over three weeks then I was told they had managed to get the post out so I reminded them they were welcome to sort the bike. They serviced bike fully and fitted a number of new parts, including mudguards some new pedals and a gear shifter. The seatpost removal was a bargain at £85 and despite the bike being 26 years old both me and my daughter were extremely pleased with the end result 😀. So if you live in Scotland and have a stuck seatpost or just need any general service work on your bike I cannot recommend the young couple that run Pedal Forth enough. P.S. I take full responsibility for the cheap bottle and cage and tiny light and bell 🔔 and 😅”
★★★★★“A brilliant experience in getting my bike serviced and new wheels fitted. Jenny bent over backwards to help and accomodate my lack of time, flexibility. Great service all round. I have used Pedal Forth (and Jenny) before and having tried other cycle shops in between i can't think of anywhere better in Edinburgh. Big thanks to Jenny and will use every time from now on.”
★★★★★“Walked in for bicycle rental to explore Edinburgh and the Water of Leith walkway. We had quick service without an appointment. The bikes were in great shape and the rental included helmets and a repair kit, very reasonably priced at £25/each. Highly recommend this shop if you're planning biking around Edinburgh.”
