“Newbarns brewery gave us a very enjoyable afternoon. It was lively with decent beer and good food. Heading into central Edinburgh on a bus looking for a beer, we found this brewery online, and on a whim decided to try it. It had an industrial vibe, the beer garden was packed, and there was a long queue for food, so we went inside to get a seat. I ordered a couple of pints, from a decent selection, and went out to queue for food. They do a pop-up kitchen and this was an Indonesian day. We had chicken with rice, fish dumplings and a veggie salad. All the food was good, an interesting experience - though as a pop-up it could be completely different next time. We hung about the bar, had a few more drinks, then made our way back to the campsite. The only issue for me was that there was a very limited description of the beer - only a name and alcohol level for some of them. I'd have preferred more description and possibly tasting notes. Having said that, I enjoyed everyone I tried. There was a big age range for customers, from small children to older people, but mostly a lively student group. Overall this was very enjoyable, it's good to get local beer onsite. It's also good to try something different, food wise and beer wise. Well worth a visit.”
