What customers say

Having visited Autohaus 4 times, they have very much earned this one star review, they failed to diagnose the original issue I brought the car in for, while simultaneously cherry picking easy jobs for themselves meaning that they got a significant amount of money out of me while my car ultimately ended up dangerous to drive and off the road. Along the way there was an impressive amount of incompetence on display, I’ve no idea how they have maintained a decent score on the reviews but I have since discovered they have a reputation. Issues along the way included putting 20 miles on the clock on the first visit, I should have bailed on them then but they were complimentary about the car and it wasn’t the first time it had happened so gave them a pass. Damaging a wheel, not curb rash but looked like it had been sprayed with a chemical while it was off the car. First two visits I took the courtesy car and the turn around was quick, third visit I got the bus home and they kept the car for over 3 weeks! Missed 2 deadlines I had for work so they left me high and dry, when I came to take the car, which had no work done to it, the battery was dead as they had been moving the car every day. When I quizzed them on this they said the battery was done and quoted £250 to replace it. The battery was a year old. I asked them to jump the car, took it away and years later I’m still using the same battery. They changed a belt on a service and the log book was filled in with a tick against every box. Including the auto box oil, my car is manual. When I realised I quizzed them on the timing belt and turned out they had done an auxiliary belt, not timing belt. Thankfully I got that sorted before it became a disaster for me. The real stinker was that I asked them to diagnose 2 different knocks that I was experiencing, they were pretty evident but they consistently told me ‘the laddie couldn’t hear anything’, all 4 visits I asked them to diagnose this, on the last visit I got Eddie into the car with me so we could hear it together. His response was, ‘It’s the door straps, I thought you’d have known that’. After that visit the front dampers failed. I took the car to another mechanic and immediately got a diagnosis. Failed shocks and upper control arm. It feels fair to assume they couldn’t be bothered to fix this for me, but they were more than happy to take on easy work and they weren’t cheap. I was more than happy to pay top dollar for good work, but sadly that’s not what was on offer. I’m sure there was more nonsense but I doubt anyone’s reading this far. I’ve bleated this sob story to various people along the way and discovered they are a known quantity. Glad to have a proper mechanic now.

A fantastic independent garage. Trustworthy, solution focused and thorough which isn’t commonplace from my experience. Eddie and Jack were both very helpful, while Stevie the mechanic who worked on my car was outstanding. I will be using them again and would highly recommend.

Autohaus have been great. Technicians that know the cars and I've always been seen to promptly if my car develops an issue.
