“I wanted to say thank you for an excellent restoration that Ritchie Clocks carried out on my mantle clock back in 2012... it has only now needed minor attention. I bought a Garrard Mantle Clock off eBay back in 2011 which had been "restored" by an enthusiastic amateur. Needless to say it did not run well and I sent it in to Ritchie Clocks almost immediately. They were as busy back then as they are now and it took nine months for my clock to get to the top of the queue. They did a beautiful job and the clock has run flawlessly for a little over six years to an accuracy of about 20 seconds over a week. I could have probably got it a little closer with more fiddling with the pendulum bob but that was good enough for me. Last week it suddenly slowed several minutes over the week and seemed to be ticking weakly. As I am no longer in Edinburgh, it is now booked in at my local family horologists for a regular clean and re-oil. So, thanks Ritchie Clocks for bringing my clock back into spec. Six years of flawless performance. You certainly know your stuff!”

“Not a happy experience, and at odds with our previous one from a few years ago. Cuckoo clock delivered to James Ritchie for repair in April 2017. A couple of months went by before the clock was looked at ("too busy, too small a job"). A new movement was finally ordered, but apparently did not fit. Clock finally returned in late October; not repaired, and in even worse condition. Internal movement has been damaged and clock no longer runs. In addition, all the original paperwork that was left with the original packing (instruction manual, receipt, guarantee) has been lost. All in all, a hugely frustrating and disappointing result.”
