What customers say

Such a cute cafe with a beautiful spread of freshly baked cakes and bakes. A wee bit out of the way from a lot of things but it was worth visiting still! They have a lovely Instagram too, sharing all the different bakes they are offering ♥️

Hot chocolate was very mild, but smooth and still quite enjoyable. It's well balanced, and there was a very thick layer of milk foam which I liked Carrot cake was exemplary. Generous portion but more impressively there's a lot of thought that went into the components. From the orange zest on the cream cheese, to the bursts of acidity from the raisins that cuts thru the mild sweetness of the carrot cake, and even the slightly dense texture. It's really something, coming from someone who likes carrot cake a lot Cheese scone was slightly dry (as I guess it's supposed to be?) in the middle, but otherwise the crunchy crust and the lovely perfume of cheddar is perfect. I doubt I'm ever going to taste one that's better than this in terms of the crust Also the butter from Aberdeen was very good, esp since it's well salted Overall very high standards, they're the real deal in terms of technical proficiency and every other aspect was good too

When I travel I love to find things in more out of the way spaces. On a recent 10 day trip to Edinburgh I wanted to explore a few different areas away from the main tourist spots. In my research I found Kate’s. I was like it’s my name! Haha. I checked out the other reviews and this spot is well received so I figured I’d add my experience. I got to have a quick chat with Kate’s mom who’d been there to do some of the baking. She was a really lovely lady. I ordered a cheddar scone and the citrus drizzle cake, and a latte. The space is small, with merely shared table spaces. The decor is very cute and homey. The staff were very friendly at nice. The latte was fabulous. The cheddar scone was a bit warm with some slightly salted butter, delicious! The citrus drizzle cake was excellent, moist, and the icing was just sweet and tangy enough. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in Edinburgh.
