“Came to Edinburgh for a couple of days with my partner & stayed at the Point A hotel down the street from this store. We have been in each day & think it's great. So many choices of food, prepared fresh. Lots of healthy options. I wish there was a place like this back home. The third time in the shop we were greeted by the lovely Mandy who gave us both free jacket potatoes as we were one of the first 20 customers that day. We came in to grab some lunch so to be greeted with this was a lovely surprise & one we very much appreciated. Thank you Mandy, the potatoes were delicious. Excellent store 👍🏻 Also the fudge donuts are a must try 🍩🍩🍩”

“I’ve given this place a fair few chances because it’s recently opened but sadly it’s only gotten worse over time. It’s an amazing concept and should work really well, but it’s barely ever stocked properly and hygiene standards just aren’t there yet. Which you can also see from other reviews. Numerous times I’ve come in at peak morning time at 9am and found staff scrambling to stock shelves, if they stock them at all. Today the place was like a building site with people installing fridges and firing a nailgun off. Not to mention the cigarette buts on the floor near the coffee station and the smell of vomit. It’s a shame because some of their healthier meals in the chilled section were genuinely good, when they were actually stocked. The photo you see is pretty much what you can expect most of the time, half empty shelves with inconsistent stock options and nothing but a few bland ready made curries. The noodle station sounded great but it’s just ready ramen you could buy at any store nearby. And the coffee stations aren’t worth trying when there’s tons of well priced and higher quality cafes nearby. It’s also very peculiar to see branded products from other stores on the shelves. Lots of co-op branded items which only makes you wonder, why not just go there instead? I can’t speak for the hot food items or the donuts as I’ve never ordered them. Staff don’t wear gloves and so far haven’t seen any wash their hands before or after handling food. So wouldn’t chance it. Although some people have had bad experiences service wise with staff I’ve found them to be fine. Just not adhering to hygiene practices. Like many people I was excited about this place when it opened and loved the concept. But it just hasn’t taken off since it can’t stock itself consistently, can’t follow basic hygiene and above all, seems to suspiciously include a lot of 5 star reviews dated before opening day with a lot of photos taken before it opened. Which just reeks of dishonesty. It’s clear they’re spending money on making the place look more presentable. But would be far better paying their staff more, focusing on consistently stocked shelves and properly addressing the hygiene issues that so many reviews mention. Not writing fake reviews.”

“Edit (Feb 2026). They’ve replied my review citing a ‘labelling solution’… I walked past recently and still saw all their ‘unknown’ meats without labels and in an open display. How this place is still allowed to trade is quite surprising. Strongly suggest avoiding. Was really excited about the idea of a NY bodega style deli opening up, but unfortunately this place really disappoints. Food hygiene standards are absolutely appalling. Unlabelled meats in containers with no lids, and the fresh produce being replaced by a member off stay in a onesie (pyjamas), no hair net or any indication of any food hygiene training. I’ve given the place a few chances but will never be returning and would strongly advise against going.”
